Hey guys been tinkering with an idea dealing with Character Backstory

They basic idea so far is that a characters backstory grants either 2 bonus skills or a simple +2 bonus to skills associated with their backstory.

So what do you think

Do you mean in addition to a character's background (human, elf, etc)? If so, I don't see it that unbalancing, so long as you forbid some of the more useful skills from being chosen. What skills that cannot be chosen depend on the type of setting the game is set in. Like restricting the Computers skill in a cyberpunk setting, Disguise and Stealth in an stealth-focused game, or Concentration in a setting with lots of adepts around, etc.

A good way to handle it would be to just give out Talented as a bonus feat, with the two chosen skills must somehow relate to the character's backstory.

I like the idea of giving out Talented as a bonus feat. this would be in conjunction with racial backgrounds. I am going along this line of thinking mainly due to the fact that i do not think an entire background needs to be created just to represent what type of culture or environment you came from

Here is a sample backstory
The Acolyte
You grew up either as a lay-person of the church or fully ordained member.
+2 knowledge: religion +2 history

These backstories would also affect certain feats such as connections (like members of the congregation or if you grew up in a gang other gang members)

This could probably be bonus Knowledge skill most of the time. Area, History, and Language. Craft might often work here as well.
