I don't remember the actual quote, but the principal applies. I just realized that we could apply the Sic-fi Invention rules to Magic items. Anybody else believe this idea has merit?

Regarding what I want from GR True20: A revamped power system that uses similar mechanics for all powers, not the mish-mash of subsystems we have now.

This does indeed have merit, but the rules for technological weapons don't seem sufficient for the potential of magic weapons, or even of some sufficiently advanced weapons. As far as half-golem armour [powered armour] or vehicles, though, these rules could add some incredible elements into a fantasy campaign.

Well, of course some work will have to be done, but at least a framework exists for pricing and developing. Also, Steampunk ;)

All hail Steampunk. Where else can you find Abraham Lincoln with a machine gun-arm?

Some genres are already very well covered. Fantasy has D&D... and while it may not be "teh best game evar", D&D is the 300-pound gorilla in the room. There's also various incarnations of Tolkien's Middle Earth (and I still remember reading the line "the War of Northern Aggression" in one of the ICE books). Sci Fi has Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica & Serenity. Green Ronin has the super-powered thing pretty well covered. What else appeals to me, as a gamer?

We've got the Wild West book out, and I am meaning to get that at some point.

Along those lines, I'd also like someone to re-do TSR's Gangbusters, having watched some of the Godfather marathon over the Turkey Day holiday.

I'd like True20 "serials", along the lines of Green Ronin's Pathfinder adventures, but set across a variety of genres and universes... again, thinking Gangbusters or The Godfather as an initial set. (Why not fantasy? For Pathfinder, we have Pathfinder, and it only needs tweaking to move into True20.) Perhaps that would be the way to do a Gangbusters revamp... as a set of serial adventures, with underlying rules tweaks & genre conventions.

And now it can be used by everyone.

While I think that would be a great component for such a tome, I respectfully think that a TRUE 20 fantasy tome should cover all types of fantasy. Either the "D&D" setting could be one of the example settings, or a seperate sub tome could be released. Ever think of publishing Baduin? Your D&D conversions are good!

And I am all for genre tomes, btw! ;)

Since the main book of True20 was revised to swap the original worlds of adventure for the contents of the expansion, why not revise and expand the existing Worlds of Adventure to include those settings (i.e. Caliphate Nights, Lux Aeternum, Mecha vs. Kaiju, etc.) alongside the ones already in that book (Nevermore, Agents of Oblivion, Razor in the Apple, Lands of the Crane, etc.)? Just a suggestion but I would love to see it.

Other genre books are being taken care of by other publishers. Reality Blurs or Deviant is making a steam punk book I will probably be buying.

I'd personally like to see a book for handling furry worlds or making humanized animals a major race within a given campaign world. But this is due to my own prejudice and I'm not holding out much hope.

To be honest, my English is not good enough to write a publication-worthy book by myself - and I really do not have the time to do it. But I will post the improved version of my D&D conversion - after I will finish it.

As regards making common rules for all types of fantasy - True20 has already enough rules to serve as a toolbox. For a True20 Fantasy book to offer some real value to buyers, it should give a ready-made rules and items, which will offer a balanced game without the need for homeruling etc. In order to do that, you need a baseline of power - and that means a single, standard fantasy world and a collection of opponents for each level - a bestiary, in other words. You cannot balance a game without a common world, because the power of such things as invisibility depends on that world.

D&D is the common ground here, and the best benchmark for fantasy games.

On the other hand, when you have a balanced system and a bestiary, you can compare the monsters there to a fantasy genre you intend to simulate, and decide on the power level. For example, it is fairly obvious that sword&sorcery books in the style of Conan will reach at most to 10 level, and the Lord of the Ring at most to 6. After that you can add a few bonus feats in order to replace the missing magic items and you are good to go.

Your conversion rocks, Baduin. I've been having trouble with Light Shaping lately, and I liked your fix (reducing the time). I'll be using something similar. thanks :D

Well not all people with perfect english skills are suited to write a RPG product. The one thing you do have down is rulkes design. How do I know that? I have used a lot of your stuff in my games and it all works good. You should consder giving it a shot or getting together with someone who can write to the level you feel it should be written and make it a collaborative effort. Just saying... It is a compliment!

But I do have to disagree with you on the fantasy tome thing. Your right there is a lot of stuff out there enabling you to run fantasy campaigns. A littel bit here, and a little bit there. In coming up with my own rules tome for my own world i have had to grab from all over the place and it would be really nice to have all of that in one place. The best fantasy toolkit i have ever seen were the Fantasy Hero books - And I never playerd fantasy. I would love a tome of that depth for True20.

And then onto SCIFI - PULP - ETC.

Especially wity the Hero books already written, grab Kaiser and let him works his magick applying them to True20.

Win Win!

But that is just me...

I would like to see a Narrator's Guide, and genre guides. Primarily sci-fi and steampunk.

Genre guides would be good. Although realistically you might be able to get away with combining Pulp and Steam Punk. Not that I want this to happen but realistically it could happen and I would be happy because I like both.

Has anyone considered taking advantage of the flexibility of True20? It's been proven time and again that True20 is easily adapted to nearly any genre. What I'd like to see is a Campaign Setting similar to Torg, where my fantasy mage might fight alongside your pulp-style mysteryman in an attempt to stave off the advance of Inter-dimensional Warlords and their minions.

Or would MnM be better-suited for this kind of campaign?

Either way, it's something I'd buy!

I noticed mention in Chris Pramas' 'New Year's Message' of adventures being released for True 20 by Green Ronin using the Freeport campaign setting.

Looks like it will be adventures, rather than a new campaign setting or rules expansions, that will be next on the GR True 20 release schedule.
