Converting D&D monsters to True20

Postby nudnic » Fri May 23, 2008 7:27 pm

Is there a system for converting D20 monsters to True20; or a list of monsters converted from D20 to True20?

I'd like to try converting my D20 campaign over to True20. I'm new to True20, I haven't played yet. I get the basic ideas. But, I'm not sure how things would convert over.

A few things seem pretty obvious. Attributes can be converted to their bonus. But hit points and abilities and spells converted to powers, seem a little tougher to convert.

The True20 Bestiary is pretty much essential. It has many classic monsters already converted, and Appendix C has guidelines for converting d20 monsters.

I was hoping to use material from some D20 books I already own. Not to mention I'm a fan of the classis D&D stuff, like Mind Flayers and Beholders and what not.

You can find an earlier discussion on this topic (with links to still earlier discussions) here.
If that's pure logic I'll take vanilla.

If it's not in the SRD (as is the case with your two examples), then it won't be in the True20 Bestiary. This page on my "Errata & Notes" site lists which MM creatures do not appear in the True20 Bestiary (and which of those are non-OGL).
