Mecha vs. Kaiju -- IT EXISTS!!!!

Doesn't seem to be an announcement here or on the MvK site yet, but according to RPGNow, the Mecha vs. Kaiju Campaign Setting is available for purchase as a PDF.

I am so excited.

Thought others would want to know.

That's really, really neat! I hope they get it onto their lulu.com shop soon.
If that's pure logic I'll take vanilla.

Very cool.

I am thinking this might be a good game for my son and I.
He loves M&M and Godzilla.

1 1/2 years? Still worth it.

I've only read through the players section so far but I got to say I'm pretty impressed a few feat issues aside though these can be ignored(like improved precise shot being re written to require +11 combat bonus :P )

Anyway as far as Mecha design goes this far exceeds my expectations. Miscellaneous and piloting systems aside, rather than being given just a list of parts to select from you get to make from a number of options much like the true20 companion(though I think the Mvk stuff has a little more depth than the space adventures section as they were afforded more space to devote). Of course a list of sample parts is included with each section just to show you how it's done and I'm probably going to use to get my players started.

So far so good. Now onto the narrators section

Thanks for the kind review (and the handy errata!).
When reviewing the Narrator's section all I ask is no spoilers from the "Secret History of Japan" section

?!?!?!

Postby Ordinaryguy Mk. II » Sat Mar 01, 2008 9:11 pm

Something I just noticed about the weapon section
Damage 1 CP per +2 damage
Threat Range: 1 CP per point of threat range increase
Critical Damage: 1 Cp per +1 of additional critical damage.

Was this deliberate or a typo?

I got it and just started looking at it. Man, I wish it had bookmarks. Despite that, the production quality looks high. I'm really looking forward to sinking my teeth into this one. :D

I often come across as a big jerk. This is completely unintentional.

Great question! This was intentional for two reasons. One, it keeps to the spirit of the combat system. Two, it works in conjunciton with the critical hit table, which adds extra effects.

Very, VERY nice piece of work. Mecha is especially nice, and in fact I have to say provides a framework that could be adapted to a number of settings with little work, using surprisingly few pages. Concise and well written.

The rest is also very nice, and the back story (no spoilers :) ) does an excellent job of capturing the feel of the "Toei verse" style Kaiju battles and world.

Ditto.

I've been pretty busy so I haven't had a chance to grab this, but I will be in the next few days!

I've got the book, have read it, and it looks really good. However, I notice the errata for the material in the True20 core book doesn't seem to be on your site anymore, although your site still has links to it.

I think this book would be a good resource beyond the setting. There is a lot of homebrew and conversions that could use this as a base.

Indeed. Being able to sit and point to this for mecha construction rules alone as one book instead of having three or four competing systems out (which is one reason among many i DIDN'T include mecha in my setting) is always good.
