Taarna the Tarakian (Heavy Metal, 1981)
“To defend: this is the pact. But when life loses its meaning and is taken for naught, then the pact is to avenge!”

Taarna is the last of the Tarakians, a mysterious sect dedicated to the defense of the innocent. Although she doesn’t speak, she is more than capable of making her intentions known. She is a warrior without equal, and is resolute in her mission.

Virtue: Stalwart; Vice: Vengeful

Creation Notes
 The stern, silent warrior woman from the final segment of Heavy Metal. Another warrior, as promised, and with no house ruling.

 I originally made her with only 6 ability points since I wanted to try to stick with the core rules as much as possible, but she really deserves better. I went on and gave 10 points for abilities in order to bolster her Str, Dex, and Con.

 The world in which the Taarna story takes place would also make an excellent setting for True20. Its mix of barbarism, technology, and ancient magic lends itself well to the system.

Dr. Hannibal “The Cannibal” Lecter (Silence of the Lambs, 1991)
“A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.”

Dr. Hannibal Lecter is a brilliant psychiatrist and is an expert at social interaction. He also happens to be a cold, emotionless killer with a taste for human flesh. Elegant, charming, and well-educated, Hannibal Lecter comes off as an erudite scholar. Within a few minutes’ conversation he can deduce much about a person’s motives and background, and uses that against them like a weapon as sharp as any razor.

Virtue: Honest; Vice: Cannibalistic serial killer

Creation Notes
 Heck of a vice, huh?

 I had to give him 10 points for attributes in order to accommodate his intellect, wit, and charm (Int, Wis, and Cha).

Wow. Awesome. Great builds all.

While researching Dr. House for a build I discovered (via Wiki) amazing similarities to Sherlock Holmes. I may just copy and paste your Holmes and change the bit's where necessary.

That's fine with me. :)

I went back and changed Sherlock a bit based on further discussions.

My only complaint about Lecter is that he was able to carry a body with remarkable ease, being much stronger than he appeared. I think a feat similar to a rank in Super Strength would be appropriate, as it would raise his carrying capacity to the point that he could carry a human body at no more than a medium load (unless it's a remarkably fat human body).

I thought about that, but ultimately decided against it. His use of cocaine never really hindered him.

Agreed... even if you count The Seven-Percent Solution, it wasn't really a Vice in the True20 sense.

Arrogant, oh yes. And it bit him more than once, as Irene Adler (otherwise known as "That Woman") could tell you. :)

Not to mention the case of "The Yellow Face."

Oh, right. Extra Effort and Tireless would do the trick. Which requires two more feats.... That or a boatload of Conviction.

And he's usually excruciatingly honest right before he kills, so it is likely that he does have a boatload of conviction when he needs to haul bodies.

Fair enough. :D

The Shredder (Oroku Saki) (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [Original Comic Book Version], 1984)
“Come face your doom! Foot! Join me!”

Oroku Saki, aka the Shredder, is the vicious leader of the Foot Clan in New York. He traveled to the city from Japan to seek vengeance against Hamato Yoshi, his brother’s murderer. He is a harsh man, more than willing to kill anyone who gets in his way or to avenge a wrong he feels was done to him.

Role: Human War8
Speed: 30 ft.
Abilities: Str +1, Dex +3, Con +2, Int +1, Wis +1, Cha +1
Skills: Acrobatics 9 (+12), Intimidate 8 (+9), Jump 9 (+10), Knowledge (streetwise) 8 (+9), Notice 8 (+9), Sleight of Hand 8 (+13), Stealth 9 (+17)
Bonus Feats: Benefit (Leader of the Foot clan)
Favored Feats: Defensive Roll, Inspire
Feats: Acrobatic Bluff, Attack Focus (unarmed), Defensive Roll 2, Improved Critical (armor blades), Inspire (Fear), Dodge Focus 2, Talented (Sleight of Hand, Stealth), Skill Focus (Stealth), Weapon Training
Combat: Attack +11 (+8 base, +3 Dex) (+12 unarmed), Damage +2 (armor blade, crit 17-20), Defense Dodge/Parry +13/+9 (+8 base, +3 Dex, +2 Dodge Focus/+1 Str), Initiative +3
Saving Throws: Toughness +5 (+2 Con, +2 Defensive Roll, +1 armor), Fortitude +8 (+6 base, +2 Con), Reflex +5 (+2 base, +3 Dex), Will +3 (+2 base, +1 Wis)
Virtue: Determined; Vice: Cruel

Creation Notes
 An 8-point villain. No house-ruling other than the number of ability points, and his stylized armor.

 This is the real version of the Shredder, not that nonsense from the cartoon series. When the ‘Turtles comics first came out, they were not for kids!

 He could be made all the nastier by adding a few levels of expert and giving him Sneak Attack and Crippling Strike.

 I figure the ‘Turtles were 3rd or 4th level mixed-role expert/warriors when they faced him; killing the Shedder was the firs task Splinter gave them after finishing their training, so they were “low level” at the time. Given the level difference he would be more than a match for all four of them using a defensive stance (they’d have had to roll higher than 25 to hit him). He’d still have a good chance of hitting them even with the -4 penalty to hit.

Shredder’s Armor
The Shredder wears vaguely samurai-styled armor that is bristling with razor-sharp blades, spikes, and claws. His unarmed attacks do knife damage. Furthermore, anyone grappling the Shredder automatically suffers +1 slashing damage per round.

Dirge (Xombie, 2003)
“Even dead, clowns are annoying.”

Dirge is a zombie who, through means unknown to him, retained his self-awareness—but not his memories—when a zombie plague destroyed human civilization. He is a grim, hardened creature with no place to call home. Humans fear him, and zombies do not “recognize” him as one of their own. Caught between worlds he lives alone beneath a cemetery with his pet zombie-dog Cerebus, keeping his dead flesh limber with daily infusions of embalming fluid. His lonely unlife is disrupted, however, when the young girl Zoe wanders into his cemetery and he swears to help return her to her own kind.

Role: Undead Human War8
Speed: 30 ft.
Abilities: Str +5, Dex +2, Con —, Int +0, Wis +1, Cha -1
Skills: Acrobatics 8 (+10), Climb 5 (+10), Drive 3 (+5), Handle Animal 4 (+3), Jump 8 (+13), Knowledge (current events) 5 (+5), Notice 5 (+6), Search 5 (+5), Stealth 5 (+7)
Bonus Feats: Quickdraw
Favored Feats: Evasion, Improved Evasion
Feats: Attack Focus (shovel), Cleave, Great Cleave, Critical Strike (zombies), Evasion, Exotic Weapon Training (shovel), Favored Foe 3 (zombies, +6 on skill checks +3 damage), Improved Evasion, Weapon Training
Traits: Undead traits
Combat: Attack +10 (+8 base, +2 Dex) (+11 with shovel), Damage +7 (+10 vs. zombies) (shovel), Defense Dodge/Parry +10/+13 (+8 base, +2 Dex/+5 Str), Initiative +2
Saving Throws: Toughness +4 (+4 undead), Fortitude +6 (+6 base), Reflex +4 (+2 base, +2 Dex), Will +3 (+2 base, +1 Wis)
Virtue: Protective; Vice: Wrathful

Creation Notes
 A 6-point warrior, but with a bit of a cheat because he has no Con score.

 If you haven’t heard of the Xombie flash cartoon, check it out. It’s sort of like John Woo meets George Romero.

 Dirge is a unique zombie in that he retained his free will and self-awareness. Therefore, instead of using the Undead creature type I just advanced him as a warrior and slapped the Undead traits onto him. I'm not sure if he'd have the immunity to mental effects, howevrer, since his brain is still active. There are no apparent mental powers in the world of Xombie anyway, so this may be a moot point.
