Blue Rose, or True20 Blue Rose?

Postby taichara » Mon Aug 11, 2008 8:14 am

In the middle of trying to work out a prospective BR campaign, I'm finding myself faced with a quandry -- namely, which system I should be using.

I have all three BR books; I also have True20 Revised, the T20 Beastiary, and the Adept's handbook. Going with T20 would ease conversion if I keep picking up new T20 material, and it looks like it would work fine with the BR setting ... except, maybe, in the matter of arcana/powers.

BR has the Talent + Arcane Training setup, which allows for faster accumulation of powers (I think) but at the expense of limited groups; T20 has Adepts choose any power unless using a Philosophy. I also like the Arcanum feat but T20 Revised has a means to use something similar in its fantasy chapter.

Is it feasable to just port the BR system for handling adepts into T20? Would I be better off converting to the T20 system and using Philosophies (or not)? Or should I use the BR ruleset and convert over T20 material, making new Training groups if necessary?

(For what it's worth, I much prefer the way T20 handles skills.)

... Essentially I'm feeling a little swamped. Any suggestions or experience on the subject would be appreciated

I currently use the BR setting and True 20 Rules with the following exceptions:

Adepts can learn two powers per feat slot and allow the expert and warrior roles to have access to the Gain Power feat (T20 Companion)

I originally started to lump powers into the BR/ True 20 philosophies but in the end I just let the players pick their powers to keep it simple for newer players and less restraining for the experienced.

Hope this helps
