April is going to be a great time for release! (I'll be picking it up ASAP, I know). It'll be gearing up and available as the 4e PHB launches, but should have some time to itself. I really see True20 as a "gateway" system, since it is streamlined, familiar, and lets folks easily use the large glut of allegedly "obsolete" d20 stuff.

I wonder if, with everything going on recently (mainly the newer license and 4e), what sort of gamer influx to True20 will we see? I mean, I imagine we'll see some, especially with the open license, but how much of a push? Eh, idle time, idle question.

I hope it does well--I'd love a bigger pool of True20 players.

What are skill groups? I hope they are nothing like the umbrella skills from Iron Heroes.

You can pick up the Expert's Handbook here, it'll answer the question much better than I could and is well worth the price:

But, in short, it's an optional way to purchase skills that allows a character to gain a few more skills by focusing on certain packages. The nice thing is this method doesn't change the existing skill selection process or the skills themselves. It just adds one more option when purchasing skills.

I wish the revised core book would include revised damage rules. I think that this has been the most tweaked subsystem in these forums (hmm, which reminds me to publish my own version as well :D ).

Almost exactly alike, actually. I haven't done a side-by-side comparison, but each skill group has 2-3 skills, and you get +1 rank in each for 1 skill point in the group. The experts book gives 20 skill groups, and some quick suggestions for making your own.

I like skill groups, so this isn't a problem for me.

True20 revised, with sample settings dropped, and stuff from the Companion included.

Sounds like EXACTLY what I need. But, I have the True20 hardcover and I printed out the Companion, so I don't know. Green Ronin has gotten a lot of my cash of late. ;)

I think you can get a free upgrade from the guys of GR, almost for the PDF version! If you can demonstrate to have brought the companion and the core book, i think they will give you a download ticket.
Am i wrong?

Nah.

I work for another RPG company and I know they are not made of money.

If I decide I really need it/want it I'll just go buy it. I do have a hard cover and soft cover 3.5 PHB and that has been really useful so I can justify to myself.

Amazon is now listing the revised core book for an April 25th release, I see.
If that's pure logic I'll take vanilla.

I have to say.

If this were hardcover I'd grab it in a second really. Softcover, hmm.

Truth is it is exactly what I need (what I want is this + Adepts Handbook), but I generally perfer hardcovers and don't mind paying extra for them.

Any chance we can see this in hard cover at all?

Hey and for $20. My players were going to get the players pocket book or what ever its called. For that price im going to recommend they hold out a few weeks and get this instead.

One of my brothers is always the warrior in our groups, other is always the caster. So if one gets this and the warrior book. And other gets this and the adept book at least those two are set.

Wonder if the companion will stay the campanion or just be more chapters in the main book. If so is there another companion in the works?

or

With two main books in one, plus 3 role books will we see more core books or is that it. And every thing else be setting specific rules and options.
